AIGP Certification Exam Guidelines

The exam duration is 3 hours, with an optional 15-minute break halfway through the exam(selectable by the examinee)
There are 100 multiple choice questions
Approximately 30% of the questions are the case studies dealing with real-world challenges themed around AI model development and utilization
Each question is in a format where you select one or more correct answers

To pass the exam, it is important to be familiar with the entire exam scope (Body of Knowledge)
The exam can be purchased at the IAPP Store and must be taken within 1 year of purchase

Each question is evaluated as either correct or incorrect
Unanswered questions are considered incorrect, but there is no additional penalty for incorrect answers
The exam has 85 scored questions with the remaining 15 questions not counted toward the score (questions for exam development purposes). Non-scored questions do not affect your score. However, you would not know which questions are the non-scored questions.

IAPP exams have a passing score, based on which pass/failure is determined
AIGP exam scores are evaluated on a 100-500 point scale, with 300 points or above as the passing standard.

Exam results are provided with relative scores and breakdowns for each section
It is not necessary to answer all questions correctly; you are required to meet the required competency level set by the exam development committee

The AIGP exam is designed to evaluate expertise and skills in the AI governance field. Careful preparation is key to passing.

Award of Certificate and Digital Credential
- Those who pass the AIGP exam are awarded a certificate and digital credential through “Accredible.” These are typically sent via email within 2 weeks of passing the exam
Digital Credential Management
- Certificates can also be viewed and downloaded from the “My Certifications” section within your MyIAPP account
Certification Issuing Requirement
- To receive the certificate, maintenance fees or membership dues must be paid. If these are not completed, the certificate will not be issued

Certificates and digital credentials can be used as proof of AIGP qualification and serve as tools to enhance professional credibility

Validity Period: The AIGP certification is valid for 2 years from the day after passing the exam

To maintain AIGP certification, the following requirements must be met within the 2-year validity period:

Payment of Maintenance Fees
- IAPP members: Maintenance fees are included as a member benefit as long as membership is maintained
- Non-IAPP members: Must pay 250 USD per certification period
Acquisition of Continued Education Credits
- Earn 20 units of continued education credits corresponding to AIGP’s Body of Knowledge (BoK) content and submit evidence thereof

If the requirements above are not met, the certification will be suspended
Until the certification is reinstated, you cannot identify yourself as an AIGP certified professional
